These injection molded parts represent the three main pieces of a sushi roll - the rice, the fish, and the seaweed wrapper.
To produce these parts we first machined aluminum molds and then injected molten polypropylene into the mold cavities.
Important considerations when injection molding are how the molten material will flow through the cavity and how the part will deform when it solidifies and cools. Analytical, heuristic, and experimental methods were used in combination to improve production quality and consistency.
